Modern enterprises face increasing pressure to deliver business value through technological innovation that leverages all available data. At the same time, those enterprises need to reduce expenses to stay competitive, deliver results faster to respond to market demands, use real-time analytics so users can make informed decisions, and develop new applications with enhanced developer productivity. All of these factors put big data at the top of the agenda. Unfortunately, the promise of big data has often failed to deliver. With the growing volumes of unstructured and multi-structured data flooding into our data centers, the relational databases that enterprises have relied on for the last 40-years are now too limiting and inflexible. New-generation NoSQL (“Not Only SQL”) databases have gained popularity because they are ideally suited to deal with the volume, velocity, and variety of data that businesses and governments handle today.

Emerging business innovations focused on realizing quick business value on new and growing data sources require “hybrid transactional and analytical processing” (HTAP), the notion of performing analysis on data directly in an operational data store. While this is not a new idea, Gartner reports that the potential for HTAP has not been fully realized due to technology limitations and inertia in IT departments. MemSQL offers a unique combination of performance, flexibility, and ease of use that allows companies to implement HTAP to power their business applications.

There are actually many elements of such a vision that are working together. ACID and NoSQL are not the antagonists they were once thought to be; NoSQL works well under a BASE model, but also some of the innovative NoSQL systems fully conform to ACID requirements. Database engineers have puzzled out how to get non-relational systems to work within an environment that demands high availability, scalability, with differing levels of recovery and partition tolerance. BASE is still a leading innovation that is wedded to the NoSQL model, and the evolution of both together is harmonious. But that doesn’t mean they always have to be in partnership; there are several options. So while the opening anecdote is true in many cases, organizations that need more diverse possibilities can move into the commercial arena and get the specific option that works best for them. In an innovation-powered economy, ideas need to travel at the speed of thought. Yet even as our ability to communicate across companies and time zones grows rapidly, people remain frustrated by downtime and unanticipated delays across the increasingly complex grid of cloud-based infrastructure, data networks, storage systems, and servers that power our work.

Digital transformation has become a business imperative as most aspects of economic engagement have become digital. Around the globe, businesses and government agencies are re-engineering their technology infrastructures to keep pace with customer demands, spur innovation and stay competitive in an ever-evolving digital economy. Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) systems bundle multiple technology components together into single systems, enabling IT departments to spend less time managing separate data center components and more time proactively delivering value to the business. In this white paper, we compare the portfolio offerings of Dell EMC and HPE, and highlight significant benefits to be realized when partnering with the HCI market leader: Dell EMC. Dell EMC provides a tightly integrated software ecosystem and the flexibility to run multiple workload types, providing solutions to a broader customer base than HPE.

The role of IT is changing from a traditional focus on cost-efficient enablement to a more strategic contribution. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), while important, is being surpassed by a growing focus on automation and orchestration that is needed to fulfill enterprise demands for security, agility, and innovation. The cloud-grade enterprise network – spanning the campus, data center, and branch – must be able to respond to rapid changes in business, growing reliance on hybrid cloud architectures, and the needs of users and customers.

Expectations for Customer Service continue to rise around the globe. Customers expect more from brands when it comes to convenience, resolution times, and agent expertise. Evolving customer preferences are tightly linked to innovations in digital technology, and brands must embrace both in order to keep pace with heightened expectations. The good news is that brands that can deliver on expectations are rewarded with higher rates of customer retention and loyalty. The Microsoft 2017 State of Global Customer Service survey polled 5,000 people from Brazil, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. We continue to find commonalities along with distinct differences between locals. And though people in all age groups are embracing new digital trends, millennials especially are shaping the way brands need to think about the future of customer service engagement.

Customer service organizations are struggling to react to the pace of innovation and the explosion of channels and devices. To get ahead of these challenges, AD&D pros must deeply invest in automation — automated answers, automated conversations, automated agent guidance, and automated end-to-end processes. They must also invest in intelligence to ensure automated technologies evolve and learn from prior interactions over time. Automation and intelligence quell the headcount increases. They will free agents from working on low-value or repetitive tasks, as they will only have to address highly complex customer scenarios or exceptions to standard operations. This also enables them to focus on building connections with customers to garner their satisfaction and loyalty.

Digital transformation has changed the face of business across the globe. New digital technologies— specifically, mobile devices—are opening new avenues for companies to engage their prospects and manage their operations with greater effectiveness and efficiency. However, in the healthcare space, the response to these technological innovations has been reserved. While it’s undeniable that digital transformation could bring great change to the healthcare space just as it has in other industries, obstacles like regulatory compliance and rigid systems of record discourage the adoption of new tools and technology. This has led to frustration from all sides of the healthcare ecosystem. Many people are accustomed to using intuitive digital applications in their everyday lives, so when healthcare applications deliver archaic user experiences, everyone is left wanting more. Patients and members want applications that enable them to manage their health more easily. Providers want to provide new
