A wireless network is a platform for enabling enterprise-wide access to an organization's applications and data. Wireless infrastructure allows users to take the office with them wherever they go. The wireless network provides employees and guest workers with untethered access to voice, video, data and applications regardless of their physical location. With the influx of mobile devices and increase in Wi-Fi connections, organizations are already starting to see a paradigm shift to "wireless by default" and "wired by exception." Watch this video to see how our solution architects upgraded the Shawnee Mission School District's aging network infrastructure.

Intelligent N+X Redundancy, Placement Affinities, & Future Proofing in the Virtualized Data Center Virtualization brought about the ability to simplify business continuity management in IT. Workload portability and data replication capabilities mean that physical infrastructure failures no longer need impact application services, and they can rapidly be recovered even in the event of complete site failure. However, Enterprises and Service Providers face new challenges ensuring they have enough compute capacity in their virtualized data centers to support their business continuity requirements, while at the same time not over provisioning infrastructure capacity resulting in unnecessary capital expenditure.

An Intelligent Roadmap for Capacity Planning Many organizations apply overly simplistic principles to determine requirements for compute capacity in their virtualized data centers. These principles are based on a resource allocation model which takes the total amount of memory and CPU allocated to all virtual machines in a compute cluster, and assumes a defined level of over provisioning (e.g. 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1) in order to calculate the requirement for physical resources. Often managed in spreadsheets or simple databases, and augmented by simple alert-based monitoring tools, the resource allocation model does not account for actual resource consumption driven by each application workload running in the operational environment, and inherently corrodes the level of efficiency that can be driven from the underlying infrastructure.

Protecting a business – including its information and intellectual property, physical infrastructure, employees, and reputation – has become increasingly difficult. Online threats come from all sides: internal leaks and external adversaries; domestic hacktivists and overseas cybercrime syndicates; targeted threats and mass attacks. And these threats run the gamut from targeted to indiscriminate to entirely accidental. Like many security trends and frameworks, the early stages of adoption often involve inconsistent definitions, challenges with justification and management communication and an unknown path to implementation. In this white paper, we: • Review the current threatscape and why it requires this new approach • Offer a clarifying definition of what cyber threat Intelligence is • Describe how to communicate its value to the business and • Lay out some concrete initial steps toward implementing Intelligence-Led Security

In this white paper, we examine notable trends and events in physical security from 2014 and assess what security professionals should expect in 2015. 2014 was truly an unpredictable year in the physical security and executive protection worlds, as large scale events targeted for disruption were executed relatively smoothly, while unforeseen developments in Ukraine and the Ebola outbreak caught many off guard. Looking ahead to 2015, we predict that local issues will continue to gain global importance, threat actors and activists will find new ways to utilize social media to spread their messages, and the lines between physical and digital threats will continue to converge. We also highlight ongoing developments in France, Mexico, Ukraine, and Germany.

In today’s security landscape, more vendors than ever are offering what is purported to be “threat intelligence.” Although security experts often have different definitions for this term, one thing many of them can agree on is that an intelligence-led approach to security – that is, putting threat intelligence to real-world use – is critical to protecting organizations. If the goal of an intelligence-led security strategy is to help organizations be more proactive in finding and preparing for threats to physical and digital assets, it’s crucial to define and understand exactly what threat intelligence means, and separate fact from fiction. In this whitepaper, we dispel some common myths about threat intelligence.

Virtualization and cloud computing can help your organization achieve significant savings in data center hardware costs, operational expenditures, and energy demands— while achieving improvements in quality of service and business agility. However, as data centers continue to transition from physical to virtual and now increasingly, cloud environments, traditional security can slow down provisioning, become difficult to manage, and cause performance lag. As you scale your virtual environment and adopt software defined networking, evolving your approach to security can reduce time, effort, and impact on CPU, network, and storage. Read this white paper to learn more about virtualization and cloud computing.

Maintaining business continuity is your highest priority. In today’s commercial landscape, business continuity depends on the efficient, uninterrupted flow of data across the organization – from operations to sales to fulfillment. Even a brief lapse in workload continuity can mean thousands of lost sales opportunities, disruption to production, and compromised customer trust. The causes of those lapses can range from natural disasters to mechanical failure or human error. You need a data platform and a proactive disaster recovery (DR) strategy that will help you stay up and running in the event that your physical infrastructure is unavailable for any length of time. BUSINESS CONTINUITY Fulfilling orders, providing a high level of customer service, and keeping consumers engaged all depend on the efficient, uninterrupted flow of data throughout your organization. CUSTOMER TRUST Above all, protecting customer data—especially personally identifiable information (PII) —is critical

Retail has been transformed by technology in multiple ways, from the way customers interact with retailers to how products are offered and acquired. Indeed, the entire shopping experience has been redefined and expanded to enable customers to purchase products anytime, anywhere, with any device, from any number of retailers. Consumers’ changing shopping behaviors and their reliance on technology enables retailers to reach a wider swath of potential buyers, moving well beyond the borders of their physical store locations to new geographies and populations. That said, retailers must understand how to use technology effectively to draw in customers and entice them to purchase, as well as help them improve their operations and enable new, innovative ways to keep customers coming back.

While retailers scramble to manage the impact of omnichannel on their operations, the way they communicate with customers, and the methods they use to promote their products and reward loyal shoppers, many have neglected to consider what will likely be the most profound change of all: the overall impact of omnichannel data transparency. Omnichannel is destined to transform every aspect of the retail industry, including the store—its design and layout, the inclusion of mobile pointof- sale and clienteling systems, the impact of transparent inventory and what that means for fulfillment, a single view of the customer and its implications for loyalty programs, and even the physical location of stores. Retailers must stay ahead of the omnichannel curve if they expect to remain competitive in the race for customers in a commerce anywhere world, and that contest begins at the brick-and-mortar store.

Ever since e-commerce became a significant part of consumer spending, retailers have worried about its impact on store traffic. While fears that e-commerce would mean the death of stores have been proven false, retailers continue to search for ways to engage with customers via both digital and physical channels. One of the most valuable options available to retailers is a click and collect program, allowing shoppers who purchase an item online or via mobile device the option to retrieve their purchase at a brick-and-mortar store. Additional elements typically included in a click and collect experience include the option to return items that were purchased online to a physical store, or to pay for items in the store and have them shipped to a residence.
